How often should I replace my air conditioning filter?
This is the most important thing you can do to keep your system running efficiently. We recommend replacing filters every 30 days.
What size system do I need?
Buying a system that is the right size is important. If it is too small, it won’t sufficiently heat or cool the space. Too large and it may cool the home, but you won’t enjoy optimal performance. Systems that are larger than necessary tend to short cycle, which can shorten the life of your equipment and result in higher energy bills. In addition, a system that is too large for the size of your home won’t effectively remove moisture from the home, which can lead to excess humidity or even mold growth. The experts at Gold Medal will help you determine the right equipment for the size of your home.
Why is preventative maintenance important?
Maintenance is important for your HVAC system, just as it is for your car and other mechanical equipment. Maintenance is performed in order to get the best performance, prevent problems, and get the longest life from your equipment. When heating and cooling equipment is not properly maintained, it can result in several problems, including loss of energy efficiency, which can lead to higher heating and cooling bills, major breakdowns, and may shorten the life of the system.
Should I worry about indoor air quality?
Yes. Indoor air quality is actually much worse than outdoor air quality in many homes and businesses. A range of problems contribute to poor indoor air quality. These include dirty duct work, allergens, pet dander, household chemicals, and fumes that are emitted from paints, cleaning products, and even carpet and furnishings. Poor indoor air quality may contribute to allergies, trigger asthma symptoms, and irritate the respiratory system, even if you don’t have allergies and asthma. Improving indoor air quality helps reduce pollutants in the air and leaves everyone breathing easier.
